Kenworth Recognized as a 2019 Top Workplace For Women in Transportation by Women in Trucking

Kenworth was recognized as a 2019 top workplace for women in the transportation industry by the Women in Trucking Association (WIT) at a ceremony held in conjunction with the organization’s Accelerate! Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas.

The Kenworth contingent is shown with the company's award after being recognized by the Women in Trucking Association (WIT) as a 2019 top workplace for women in the transportation industry.

Nominated companies for the special recognition possess a corporate culture that supports gender diversity; provides flexibility in hours and work requirements; offers competitive compensation and quality benefits, such as paid maternity leave; includes training, continuing education and development; and fosters career advancement opportunities.

“Kenworth understands the importance of diversity in the workplace and is committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity. By creating a space for different ideas and perspectives, Kenworth employees feel empowered to engage in richer, more productive discussions about its corporate cultural, global business, and innovative products,” said Judy McTigue, Kenworth assistant general manager for operations, who accepted the award on Kenworth’s behalf. “To also exemplify these principles, the PACCAR Women’s Association was created this year to help provide resources and prepare women for leadership opportunities within the company.”

Kenworth offers a monthly diversity program at its headquarters in Kirkland, Washington. For example, the “Women in Leadership” panel event focused on the challenges, opportunities and lessons learned from executives in the Puget Sound region. Featured panelists were Kari Escobedo, Bartell Drugs senior vice president and chief information officer; Carrie Miceli, Deloitte managing director, Sue Taylor, chief Information officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and Lily Ley, PACCAR vice president and chief information officer. U.S. Congresswomen, Suzan DelBene, representing Washington state’s first congressional district, was Kenworth’s featured speaker during Women’s History Month.
